Technology and Society

It is an on-line collaborative event for updating and building knowledge aimed at professionals from the several different areas of education.

From November 06 to 16, 2018 - This event is entirely at distance.

The event

The 23rd International Conference in Education, Technology and Society aims at being an open and collaborative environment for updating and building knowledge. It seeks to gather researchers and professionals for presentations and discussions on innovative pedagogical practices, supported by the new information and communication technologies (ICT).

The objective is to broaden the dialogue among teachers in view of the current educational issues and to be another source of technical and pedagogical subsidies that serve to inspire more effective and pleasant teaching practices for students of different levels of education.

The nature of the event

The 23rd International Conference in Education, Technology and Society will be entirely at distance, through the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment. From November 06 to 16, 2018, keynotes virtually presented by specialists as well as ongoing projects and work presentations also held by teachers and students’ participants will be available at Moodle. In view of this, it is expected from the participants and the academic community to be offered innovative experiences and the results of their successful pedagogical projects and best practices in school environments.

This Conference will also count on the participation of professionals in the areas of Information Technology (IT). Virtual keynotes will be available to participants to provide them with new technological perspectives and trends in education. In the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment, the virtual venue where the event will take place, it will be possible to discuss and analyze the applicability of best practices and the use of the technologies to support them in their own learning environments, whether real or virtual. It is a great opportunity to discuss how new technologies and pedagogical approaches are transforming the role of teachers and students both in regular as in virtual classrooms.

The Conference in Education, Technology and Society, in this year of 2018, is helding the 23rd edition, international, and its 8th virtual edition - totally online. Since the beginning, it has been consolidated as an important event in the areas of Education, Technology and Society, with the active participation of teachers and students from the public and private education networks in the towns encompassing the Paranhana Valley as well as other locations in the State of Rio Grande do Sul (RS). And, virtually, for the past 7 years, with the participation of local teachers, also from other Brazilian places and even from abroad. Likewise, the Conference gets registrations of participants’ works and keynotes from several different places not only from local towns of the Paranhana Valley, but also from other towns of the state of RS and around Brazil, as well as from abroad.

The 23rd International Conference in Education, Technology and Society will also seek to promote the production of knowledge through pedagogical actions promoted mostly by dialogical-interactive methodologies with both teachers and specialists in studies in the fields of education, technology and society.

For the past 22 years, and this Conference is the oldest held at the Faculdades Integradas de Taquara, FACCAT, it has been attended by researchers, academics and Professors from Brazilian Universities, Colleges and even corporations, including the Open University of Portugal - UAb-PT, Microsoft, in Ireland, Luebeck University, in Germany, Florida Atlantic University, in the United States, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, in Ukraine, among others. Thus, it has been gathering Professors and researchers not only from the host Brazilian institution, FACCAT, but also from other Brazilian universities and colleges, such as UFRGS, PUC-RS, UFSC, FEEVALE, UNISINOS, UFPE, as well as foreign universities and institutions above mentioned. Their projects and actions in the educational fields have inspired and pointed towards best practices in general education issues as well as in the distance learning modality supported by the digital technologies.

Since its first edition in 1995, this Conference is being held at FACCAT premises, and until 2010 at least one day was set for the presentation of works by teachers from schools in nearby towns and also from other towns of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, either in primary, secondary (High School) or higher education levels. In 2011, the Conference gave a step forward: it started to present keynotes and workshops on-line, then successfully inaugurating the online virtual modality of this event. Now, in this current year of 2018, the eighth edition of this Conference will also be taking place totally online, this time through the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment.

The 23rd International Conference in Education, Technology and Society is an accomplishment of the work team of the Online Education Center (NEO) at the Faculdades Integradas de Taquara (FACCAT).
